Hatteras Island DNA Project
The Oneal (by various spellings)family has a rich history on the Outer Banks of NC. The family legend is that they or I should say their progenitor was shipwrecked there on Hatteras Island and married in with the local population. I do know they were there very early, as early as 1710, possibly earlier. Depending on how early they were there, the "local population" means the local Indian tribe. Our Hatteras family reconstruction project is seeking to answers questions like that in terms of who were the wives and is there any historical accuracy to the legends.

I am curious as to my family tree and where in Ireland they came from. Good or bad, I am interested in finding out who my ancestors are.
My Father was Rushton Abney O'Neall, Jr. - born February 23, 1919
My Grandfather was Ruston Abney O'Neall, Sr. - born November 2, 1888
My Uncle Claude was Claudius Fletcher O'Neall born September 27, 1883
My note: There seems to be a connection to the South Carolina O'Neall's. Does someone have information about this family? Thank you, Ron.

Hello, We believe that we are of the O'Neill clan from Ireland. My Grandfather was Michael James O'Neill and my Mother was Theresa O'Neill from Sydney, Australia. We read about a book called 'The O'Neills of Ulster; High Kings of Ireland' by Sir Ian Moncreiffe and Kathleen Neill, but have not been able to locate it. Is there any chance that you know how we can get a copy of this book? Looking forward to hearing from you. Kind Regards, Esmay

My name is Raymond O. Colbert. I have traced my father’s lineage back from Missouri, thru KY to MD/PA to Isaac Colbert(Calvert) Here I have run into the proverbial brick wall. I had a DNA test done thru David Bell (Calvert DNA Project-Ancerty.com) It showed a perfect match with Calvert DNA –direct descendants fro Lord Baltimore. Thus it seems Isaac born ~1750 in PA was originally a Calvert. I would greatly appreciate any and all information, sources, hints etc to assist me in breaking thru to conclusively determine Isaac’s father /lineage. Thanks a bunch! Ray
